I have to say Dr. Wilkerson, and all of the staff at St. James Dental Center, was AMAZING. I fought, and beat, cancer back in 2010. What the oncologist didn't tell me is the radiation would ruin my teeth. I have had a few dentists since then and Dr. Wilkerson is by far the best. I had to wait a little while in the exam room, but that was simply because they got me in as an emergency and was in no way Dr. Wilkerson or his staff's fault. Because of the holiday week they were unable to get a hold of anyone at my insurance company so they couldn't verify my dental benefits. They based my whole visit on what they knew about Delta Dental and gave me tons of options. Dr. Wilkerson came in looked in my mouth of course, and then proceeded to take a LOT of time to explain all of my options. While I knew that an extraction was probably necessary, he even gave me options on top of that willing to refer me to an oral surgeon to have an implant placed when the extraction takes place to put a lower denture on once it was extracted. Because they couldn't verify my insurance he simply looked and gave me options and then got me out of pain through Christmas night by prescribing an antibiotic and pain medicine. Financially we, as a family, have had a difficult time since the cancer but they could sense I was getting a little emotional when I was discussing my options of paying for my visit that they made it so much easier. I know I have typed a lot but I can not get across how GREAT everyone was. If you need a dentist, even if you live in New York or California, I suggest checking out Dr. Wilkerson and St James Dental Center. I will be done with my medicine soon and if I am still having problems before I am able to get in to have it fixed, I may call for suggestions or to see if they can refill my medicines. If I have to call I will let everyone know how that interaction went.
I would recommend Dr. Wilkerson to anyone. He has a nice touch, keeps you informed throughout the procedure, gives care advice, and doesn't keep you waiting. He recommended a crown for me instead of waiting for a root canal; that will save me a lot of pain!
