We got there at about 430pm and there was no entrance fee since they close at 5pm (winter hours). It was a spur of the moment kind of trip but we couldn't have timed it better.. the sunset was gorgeous! We walked around the trout hatchery and the spring area, then over to the furnaces. We had just enough time for that before they closed. Wish we could've have seen more but that's what we get for showing up so late. A trip during the day is definitely in the future! We also saw lots and lots of deer! Awesome place.
Want to get away? Come here to relax. It's a bit out there but the spring is clean and the fish want to be fed. Quiet and with shade. Bring cash is best and some quarters for the fish food. Conservation, its beginnings, and education taught here in the building.
Offers outdoor family fun. Very picturesque setting. Love walking a long the springs and river.
While not my favorite trout park, this is a great place to come due to its proximity of St. Louis. In just over an hour, you can have your feet in the stream and line in the water. Make sure you take the time to see the hatchery area, and museum.
Nice place. We didn't check out the museum this trip; jut walked around the grounds and fed the fish. Kids had a great time and it was a nice break on our drive to the shut-ins.
